Rose Cottage
A small quarry worker's cottage in a quiet hamlet on the Welsh borders. The cottage is semi-detached and located in a valley leading up to the Kerry Ridgeway, about 30 miles south west of Shrewsbury. There is a cluster of about 6 dwellings around the cottage, but the area is quiet and the neighbours are used to solitary retreatants. The cottage is well appointed and comfortable. It is possible to use it for 'duolitaries', as there is a comfortable sofabed downstairs. The woodburner is easy to use and very efficient.
The accommodation:
- Downstairs there is a sofabed, table and chairs, and kitchen units along one wall. There is a woodburner in a large old fireplace.
- Upstairs there is a bathroom and bedroom overlooking the quiet lane
- Outside front garden has a table and benches
- Back garden has decking, with table and chairs available
There is a separate car parking area just opposite the cottage. Logs are provided, and there is a good store of basic food.
There are a number of good walks you can do from the cottage, and maps are available.
There is no wi-fi.
The cottage is located about 7 miles from Newtown, Powys. If arriving by public transport you would take a train to Newtown and a taxi on from there, stopping if needed at a shop on the way.
The nearest shops are in Newtown (to the west) and Church Stoke (to the east).
